CGG’s MegaBar MC Survey under the Seisintel microscope!

This month we move over to Brazil and use the power of the Seisintel database to analyse vessel dynamics in what looks to be a very challenging area for seismic acquisition.

The CGG Oceanic Vega mobilised for the 14,500 sqkm MegaBar MC survey from Itaqui, with a 12 x 100 x 8100m spread in October last year and has been battling the currents ever since. Struggling at less than 3.5 knots in one direction and then trying to slow down in the other as the vessel speed increases to above 5.5 knots.

The Seisintel database is rich with meta-data from each and every survey conducted globally, providing valuable insights into environmental conditions. Source size, streamer ballasting, continuous recording, steerable streamers and spare rigging would be a must have in these harsh and remote operating environments.
